What do you mean you don't use incantations. You do! Literally all of the time, and if you struggle with doubt in any areas of your life, this is making it so much worse!
You may think it strange, a life coach saying that incantations are ruining your life. But think about it for a moment. How often do you say I'm such an idiot. It's too hard. I can't do it. It's useless. I'm useless. You're useless. What's the point. You don't care about me. Nobody understands me. Life sucks. If any of these are words that you use on a daily basis in your vocabulary then you have a habit that is hypnotizing you every day to feel bad about things.
For years I have seen firsthand how self-doubt can hold people back. We seek answers on why we are like this, but the answers we find only serve to back up our greatest fear, that it's the way we are, and how life is, and there is nothing we can do about it. This is one of the greatest lies we can tell ourselves.
1 - We don't even know we have incantations
I didn't even realize that I had a habit of saying things negatively to myself, about myself or those around me and the world at large. But I did. Every day I could be found saying out loud what I hate about life, what I hated about myself, how hard a deal this life had dealt me. The truth was that I had turned these sayings into a habit. Not chanting them like you might expect with incantations, but repeatedly saying them to myself, or out loud, without fail. This is what an incantation is but I did it all of the time. It really served my feeling full of self-doubt.
The first step is to realize that we do this. And to want to change it.
2 - We turn incantations into in-can't-ations
Incantations are there for us to use as a force for good in our lives. Yet those of us who self-doubt like to turn our in-can-tations backwards, into in-can't-ations. We drum up negative statements that back up the negative beliefs we have about ourselves. Then we repeat them like a mantra over and over.
What things have you said to yourself, or about yourself? Things that are consistent over time are in-can't-ations. They hypnotise us into feeling bad about ourselves.
Are you feeling like you want to change some of the things that you regularly say? The good news, is you simply have to come up with some things that are better, and say them consistently, and believe them.
3 - We let in-can't-ations rule our beliefs
Everytime you say something about yourself repeatedly, you are changing your beliefs about yourself. This is how thought and beliefs work. The more often you say it, the stronger the belief. Then when you believe something, you will find all kinds of evidence in life that support your beliefs. Suddenly you believe you will never have success. That a happy life just isn't for you.
Don't let this trap dictate the life and future you will have. It's all based on a lie and you can change it. I know as I changed my path from doubt myself and so can you.
This is why I am passionate about helping people overcome their self-doubt and build their confidence. One of the most powerful tools that I use with my clients is positively focused incantations.
Positive incantations are a form of self-talk that help us to reprogram our minds and change our beliefs. By repeating positive affirmations to yourself, you can create new neural pathways in your brain that will help you achieve your goals and view life differently. But positive incantations are not just about positive thinking, they have to include taking action.
Let me share a story with you.
One of my coaching clients, lets call her Sally, had recently split up from her partner. She had started saying to herself "I know it's my fault. I don't think I'll ever be in a good relationship again." It's not a bad thing to be retrospective after a break up. To see how our part in the relationship may have contributed to its demise. But Sally had split from her partner over 12 months previous and she was still blaming herself and unable to see a brighter future.
The words that she repeated daily were keeping her stuck in that mindset. She used them to convince herself that it's just how she is. It became a mantra. An incantation. A habit that she used to build excuses for how things had turned out.
Not long after seeing what she was doing consciously, she soon stopped. She created a new story with a new set of beliefs and incantations. Then with this new way of being she started taking more chances again. Living again. Looking for new experiences in life and seeing where they will take her. See my blog post on beating doubt in relationships HERE.
Positive incantations can be used in all areas of your life. For example, if you are trying to lose weight, you could repeat the affirmation “I am becoming healthier and fitter each day”. If you are trying to save money, you could repeat the affirmation “I am financially responsible and my wealth grows consistently”. The possibilities for change are endless if we start by creating a habitual vocabulary that works for us and not against us.
Positive incantations can help us build our confidence and create a positive mindset, but we still need to put in the work. We need to take our lives and steer them down a happier and more fulfilling way of being.
Positive incantations are an incredibly powerful tool that can help us achieve our goals and overcome self-doubt. By repeating positive affirmations to ourselves as a habit, every day, and by truly believing in what we say, we can create new neural pathways in our brain that will help us achieve our goals. Remember, positive incantations are not just about positive thinking, they are about taking action. So, start using positive incantations today and take action towards your goals!
