The Key to Living in a Beautiful State

The Key to Living in a Beautiful State Every Day

You know, most people live their lives as if they are at the mercy of their circumstances. They wake up, go through the motions, and allow external events to dictate how they feel. They ride the emotional rollercoaster of life, feeling like a passenger rather than the driver. But what if I told you that you have the power to take control? What if you could flip a switch and step into a beautiful state no matter what is happening around you?

This is the power of understanding state. Once you master your emotional and physical state, you hold the key to living a fulfilling life.

What is State or your State of Mind?

Your state is the emotional and physical condition you’re in at any given moment. It’s how you feel right now. Are you feeling tired, stressed, anxious? Or are you feeling energized, joyful, and focused? Every emotion we experience, whether it’s frustration, excitement, sadness, or gratitude, comes down to the state we’re in.

Imagine your state like a thermostat. You set the temperature, and your body and mind respond accordingly. Too many people let their thermostat be controlled by external events - arguments, deadlines, unexpected problems. They end up feeling stuck in states like self doubt, sadness, or frustration because they don’t know that they have the power to change their internal temperature at any time.

Tony Robbins says, "It’s not the events of our lives that shape us, but our beliefs about what those events mean." This is echoed by Shakespeare and Viktor Frankl. And where do these beliefs come from? Our state of mind.

The Three Types of State

1. Beautiful State – This is where we want to be, always. A beautiful state is a place of joy, peace, love, gratitude, and fulfilment. It’s the state that allows us to think clearly, act decisively, and enjoy life fully. When you're in a beautiful state, you’re unstoppable. Challenges feel like opportunities, and obstacles become stepping stones.

2. Suffering State – This is where many people spend their lives. It’s when you feel frustrated, anxious, stressed, overwhelmed, or defeated. In a suffering state, everything feels hard. You’re reactive instead of proactive, and life feels like an uphill battle. When you're here, you're stuck in your head, focusing on what’s wrong rather than what’s possible.

3. Neutral State – Some might think this is a safe middle ground, but neutral can often feel like stagnation. You're not suffering, but you’re not thriving either. It’s like being on autopilot, going through the motions without passion, excitement, or intention. Neutral state lacks the fuel that drives you toward a fulfilling life.

The Power of Changing State

The good news is you can change your state in an instant . The state you’re in at any moment is not permanent. Most people just don’t realize it.

Think about it. You could be having a terrible day at work, feeling stressed out and overwhelmed, when suddenly you get a call from a close friend who tells you they’re getting married. In an instant, your state shifts from stress to excitement, just because of that phone call. You didn't force it, your body naturally shifted because the external event affected you emotionally.

But here’s the thing. You don’t need to wait for external events to change your state. You have the power to do it on your own, anytime, anywhere...

How to Change Your State Quickly and Easily

1. Change Your Physiology

Your state is directly influenced by your body. If you’re feeling low energy, chances are your body is hunched, your breathing is shallow, and your face might be downcast. Change that immediately by standing up, breathing deeply, and moving with energy. Jump up and down, shake your body out, or take a brisk walk. In seconds, your physiology shifts, and with it, your mindset and your emotions.

It's like your body is a car. If you want to get somewhere faster, you don’t just wish for it; you press the pedal harder. Your physiology is the pedal for your emotional state. When you move, your emotions follow.

2. Focus on What You Want, Not What You Fear

Where focus goes, energy flows. Most people live in suffering states because they focus on what’s wrong in their lives. They focus on what they can’t control, on the problems rather than the solutions. Shift your focus to what you’re grateful for, what excites you, and what you want to create in your life.

Think of focus like a camera lens. If you zoom in on the dark spots of your life, they’ll fill your vision. But if you widen the lens to capture the whole picture, you’ll see the beauty and possibility all around you.

3. Change Your Language

The words you use to describe your situation will determine how you feel about it. If you tell yourself, "I’m overwhelmed," you’ll feel overwhelmed. If you tell yourself, "I’m learning and growing," even in a challenging situation, you’ll feel empowered.

Using words like “destroyed” or “devastated” are guaranteed to drag you into a suffering state. By shifting your language to words like “challenged,” “tested,” or “growing,” you take back control of your emotional state.

A man once said, “I’m drowning in work.” Every time he said it, his shoulders slumped, and his energy drained. After changing what he said to “I’m getting better at managing my time.” His physiology and mindset shifted almost instantly, you could see it right before your eyes! His workload hadn’t changed, but his ability to handle it did. I can't stress how important these are in creating a beautiful state to live in.

Living in a Beautiful State, No Matter What

The goal isn’t to avoid challenges or difficulties, these are inevitable. The goal is to maintain a beautiful state even in the face of adversity. To do this, you must practice state management daily.

Do this consistently for a weeks and feel the difference in you...

Morning Priming: Start your day by shifting into a beautiful state. Whether it’s a morning workout, meditation, or just taking a few minutes to feel gratitude, get your mind and body into the right place before the world even has a chance to throw challenges at you.

Interrupt Negative Patterns: When you feel yourself slipping into a suffering state, interrupt the pattern. Change your physiology immediately, refocus on what you’re grateful for, and choose empowering language.

Celebrate Progress: Every time you shift your state, celebrate it. Reinforce the belief that you are in control of your life, your emotions, and your destiny.

You know, state is like the weather inside your mind. You can let storms rage and feel like you're drowning, or you can be the one who commands the sun to shine. Living in a beautiful state doesn’t mean life is perfect - it means you have the tools to navigate whatever life throws at you with grace, strength, and joy.

So, ask yourself right now, what state are you in? If it’s anything less than beautiful, remember, you have the power to change it. You are the thermostat. Shift it, and your life will shift with it.

All the best for you in choosing to live your life in a beautiful state instead of suffering.
